将来の医学や生命科学研究を担う研究者・技術者および社会医学、健康科学分野の研究成果を医療機関や保健医療行政の現場において実践できる高度専門職業人の育成を目的とします。
生命医科学専攻では、「将来の医学や生命科学研究を担う研究者・技術者および社会医学、健康科学分野の研究成果を医療機関や保健医療行政の現場において実践できる高度専門職業人の育成」を目的としています。
このため、医学全般に対する基本的学識とともに、専門性・情報収集能力と倫理観と深い洞察力をもって、課題解決のための学術活動を推進する能力を身につけ、所定の期間在学し、修了に必要な履修単位を修得し、一定レベルの学術的成果をあげて修士論文審査および最終試験に合格した学生に修士(医科学)の学位を授与します。
医学、生命科学の基礎と医工農の3 分野を俯瞰する知識を修得させるために、医科学基礎を中心にこれまで医学教育を受けていない学生に対して、基礎医学、臨床医学、社会医学の基本を学ぶカリキュラムを備えています。さらに、科学者倫理を必修として医学研究者としての高い倫理観を涵養します。また、夜間開講や長期履修制度により社会人学生の修学を支援しています。
本専攻の教育課程は以下のような特色があります。
(1)医工農融合及び文理融合による教育課程の一層の充実により、最新の生命科学や先端医療技術の教育はもとより、それまで医学を学んでこなかった入学生に対しても医学の基本を十分に学べるような教育課程が準備されています。
(2)高度専門技術者が持つべき医療倫理観、医学研究倫理観を養い、先端治療技術に対する倫理的、法的、社会的諸問題に関する考えを確立することを目指し、また、社会人進学者については、医療、行政、教育現場の人材の再教育、高度技能教育の場として位置づけ、現場での具体的な課題解決のための実践的な研究および教育を行っています。
学生の学修成果は、シラバスに明記された評価方法及び評価基準に基づいて、授業の到達目標への到達度により評価します。

学位論文については、厳格で透明な論文審査を行い、修了判定はディプロマポリシーによる総合評価とします。
将来の生命科学研究を担う研究者の養成に加え、生命科学、社会医学研究の成果を、医療機関の現場、保健医療行政および健康教育分野において実践できる高度の先端技術と学際的知識を持つ専門技術者の養成を目指しています。
医学や生命科学に興味を持ち、将来、基礎医学、臨床医学、社会医学の領域で研究者や技術者、実践家として貢献することに意欲を持っている人材、および、現在、生命科学研究や臨床の現場、公衆衛生の現場に従事しながら、学術的視点を加味して現場の問題解決に取り組む意欲のある人材で、論理的思考力・説明能力と高い倫理観を備えた人を求めています。
上記の<求める能力・人物像>で示す能力等を有する人を評価するため、以下の方法により選抜します。
<一般選抜>
成績証明書、筆記試験(英語)、口述試験等の結果を総合的に判定して選抜します。
<社会人特別選抜>
本選抜は、各種の医療機関、研究機関、教育機関、行政機関又は企業等において、2年以上(出願時)の勤務経験を有する技術者、教育者又は研究者を対象に実施しています。成績証明書、研究計画書、研究業績調書、口述試験等の結果を総合的に判定して選抜します。

The Department of Biomedical Science aims to nurture researchers/technicians for the future of medicine and life science research and highly skilled professionals who can put into practice their research results in the field of medicine and health science at medical institutions and/or health administrations.
The Department of Biomedical Science aims to nurture researchers/technicians for the future of medicine and life science research and highly skilled professionals who can put into practice their research results in the field of medicine and health science at medical institutions and/or health administrations. Based on the goals, the Department of Biomedical Science confers Master’s Degrees in Medicine to individuals who have acquired the skills and knowledge for medical science and an ability to carry out academic activities. They are capable of problem solving in general and in their specializations, can gather information, are ethical in their daily routines, and are intuitive. Other expectations are; being enrolled at their school/university for a specified period of time; successfully earning all credits required for graduation, and achieving the necessary requirements/grades to graduate; passing both the thesis and the final examination.
The Department of Biomedical Science organizes the curriculum consisting of basic medical science, clinical medicine and social medicine in order to enable students who have not pursued any medical education until now to learn the foundation of basic medical science and life science, and acquire the knowledge and abilities through taking courses related to these three fields; medicine, engineering and agriculture. We require “Introduction to Ethics for Scientists” as mandatory to ensure significant training and understanding of ethical expectations as medical researchers. In addition, we encourage adult learners to study and provide evening courses and a long-term registration system.
Here are the features of the curriculum in the Department of Biomedical Science.
1. We provide education of the latest life science and advanced medical technology because of further enhancements by the integration of literature and science as well as the integration of three fields; medicine, engineering and agriculture. In addition, we organize our curriculum in a way that welcomes students to study basic medical science even if they have no educational background in medical science until now.
2. We aim to nurture a code of ethics for all medical practice/research and highly skilled professionals to maintain/hold. Also aim to enable students to establish ethical, legal and social thinking in advanced treatment technology. For adult learners, we position it as a place to reeducate in a medical setting, an administrative site and the field of education and to do advanced skill training. We conduct practical research and education to solve specific challenges in each field.
The academic results acquired by students will be evaluated by students’ achievement in each class based on the evaluation method and the evaluation standards stated in the syllabus.
〈Evaluation Method〉
Regarding graduation thesis, it’s strictly and transparently reviewed and evaluated. Completion judgements are conducted as a comprehensive evaluation as stated in Diploma Policy.
Objective is to train researchers who will be responsible for future life science research and specialized technicians with advanced technology and interdisciplinary knowledge who can put the results of life science and social medicine research into practice in the field of medical institutions, healthcare administration, and health education.
To be the ideal candidate, one should be interested in medicine and life sciences, and should be ambitious about making a contribution as a researcher, technician, or practitioner in the field of basic, clinical, and social medicine. The candidate must also currently be working in life science research or clinical or public health organizations. He or she should exhibit ambition for on-site problem solving and have an academic background. Finally, the candidate should have excellent ethics and exhibit great capability in logical thinking and in pedagogical skills.
The following selection method will be used to evaluate applicants who have the abilities, etc. Listed in the above〈Abilities and personality required〉.

The selection will be based on the total assessment of their academic transcripts, the results of the written examination (English) and oral examination, etc.
〈Special Selection for Working Students〉
This selection is for engineers, educators, or researchers who have worked for at least two years (at the time of application) at medical institutions, research institutions, educational institutions, administrative institutions, or companies. Selection will be based on the total assessment of academic transcripts, research project plans, list of research achievement, oral examination, etc.
