Neuropsychiatry and Clinical Ethics

The Department of Neuropsychiatry was established in April, 1983. Since then, we have conducted medical practice, education and research related to psychiatry. In 2002, the department was consolidated as the Department of Neuropsychiatry and Clinical Ethics.
Clinics: Since the clinical service had been offered mainly for depressive patients in early times, we now expand the range of the services in the specialties of mood disorders, schizophrenia, developmental disorders, eating disorders, dementia and related disorders for inpatients and outpatients. We also work in service for consultation-liaison psychiatry and palliative care in cooperation with other clinical departments, and serve as one of the handful places in Japan where the psychiatrist certified clinical geneticist works for general genetic counseling.
Research: We conduct both of clinical and basic medical researches for psychiatric disorders and behaviors. Neuroimaging analysis, Neuropathological analysis, Genetic analysis, Cell biology, Pharmacological-Behavioral analysis, etc.
