Microbiology

Hepatitis C virus (HCV) and Hepatitis B virus (HBV) are causative agents that induce chronic liver diseases including steatosis, cirrhosis, and hepatocellular carcinoma. The viral proteins cooperate with several host factors to maintain the viral production and to induce the liver disorders. We focus on the mechanism by which HCV and HBV cause steatosis, cirrhosis, and hepatocellular carcinoma. Besides, our research interest is the mechanism by which their replications are supported in the host. Our goal is to develop the effective antiviral strategy against HBV and HCV.
